Day 9

This morning I got up at 5:30, because I didn’t do all of my homework from the day before. Not saying that I finished it this morning, which I didn’t. It is on the brinks of impossible to actually be able to finish all of the reading. For breakfast we usually have this yummmy French toast, but it’s not normal. It is like deep fried or something. Pretty much delicious. And not only do we have French toast for breakfast we always have some kind of dessert as well. Like chocolate muffins, chocolate cake, cheesecake type things. Breakfast is the most interesting meal of the day. They always have different cheeses and meats and “lunch” type food out as well. I actually somewhat understood what was being said in Old Testament today, I got my essay back from him that I had written on the documentary hypothesis. What is that you ask? Good question. Well I’m not too sure myself. But I did get an 8/10 on my paper. Then I went to Islam for two very, very long hours. Now the teacher is nice, but I had no idea what he was trying to tell us. I took a whole two sentences of notes, but not to worry. Just about everyone else was lost as well. But you know what kind of kids apply to the Jerusalem program? Ya well they are the overachievers, that ask questions that had never even come across my mind. Let’s just say that I am not quite up to most of their intellectual standards. After class I went to the library for my committee meeting! Yay, basically the entire library is a wreck. No one actually works in there. One of the ladies from the main office tries to come in and reshelve books. But everything is just so out of order. So we organized the VHS’s but that was all we had time for. We aren’t required to spend time up there, but I’m sure we will be reorganizing the whole thing. Because the two girls with me are neat freaks and have worked in libraries before. Then we had lunch. Falafels. That is a big tortilla/pita bread, spread with hummus, then with deep fried chickpea things, fries, and a bunch of other things stuffed into it. It is pretty much a staple food here. And it is delicious. I then may have taken a quick nap, because I always seem to be tired. Then off to Judaism. Which I found to be far more interesting than Islam, today at least.  I had Hebrew after that. Which is probably my favorite class. We have already learned two songs, a bunch of the alphabet, and a bunch of phrases. Shalom. Ma Neeshma? Be’ seder. After dinner I went to a Jazz concert, which was just held in the Auditorium. A bunch of people drive in to see it, tonight we listened to a prodigy child pianist. He was only 15 and as far as I could tell was really good. Supposedly he started playing at 6 months old. Crazy. After wards we hung around for a bit. But today is Jared’s birthday, so at ten we through a surprise dance party for him in the gym. But I accidentally was talking about the dance with him earlier, because no one felt the need to mention to me that it was supposed to be a surprise. Yom Huledet Sameach Jared! Aka happy birthday in Hebrew. I left the dance party after a good ten minutes. Because as you may recall, dancing is not very high up on my list of fun things to do. Actually it’s probably closer to the bottom than the top. Also today I apparently looked extra nice. Because I got complemented on my cardi at least ten times and my hair about seven times (by the boys and girls). Oh and one of the boy’s liked my pants, that was kinda weird. Laila Tov. Shalom.
